Palomar College Police Department

Palomar College Police Department (PCPD) is located at 1140 West Mission Road, San Marcos, CA  92069. The Police Department is operational 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and exists to provide safety and security for students, staff, faculty, and visitors. Our law enforcement responsibilities govern College property and officers have full peace officer powers per California Penal Code Section 830.32.  Police Officers comply with peace officer standards set forth by the California Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Commission. The Police Department is staffed with eight full-time peace officers and a Sergeant.

The Palomar College Police Department works closely with the San Diego Sheriff’s Department and Escondido Police Department. The aforementioned law enforcement agencies generously provide assistance upon request to include patrol responses, canines, helicopter, and other law enforcement needs. The College maintains a memorandum of understanding with the San Diego Sheriff’s Department and the Escondido Police Department regarding mutual assistance pursuant to the Kristen Smart Act for Uniform Crime Report Part I crimes.

Student Life and Leadership and the Palomar College Police Department members enjoy a close working relationship. This cooperative team approach addresses situations as they arise as well as future concerns within the educational environment.

In the event of a criminal event at a non-campus location, the jurisdictional law enforcement agency will respond to the incident.
