Key and Card Access – Electronic Locksets

The District will not allow the installation of any door locks which do not conform to the standard lock systems in use on the campus.  Any request for special door locks must be approved by the appropriate Vice-President and sent to the Director, Facilities on a Facilities Work Request Form along with a written justification.  Departments may not order and/or install any locking device on any door without this process.

Many school and universities still depend on keys and locks to enter and exit many of their facilities; however some Palomar College individual departments have acquired keyless access-control systems which gives them the ability to manage people who are coming through their areas.

The Facilities Department locksmith programs the electronic access system for all keyless access-control systems (Academic and Administrative departments provide Facilities Management with a list of individual(s) authorized to receive access.)

Each Academic and Administrative Department is responsible for notifying the Facilities Office of all exiting or transferring employees leaving the campus so the locksmith can be scheduled to reprogram the electronic access system for the keyless access-control system.

If your keyless remote doesn’t work, please contact the Facilities Office immediately at extension 2629, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  After these hours and on weekends as well as holidays, please contact Campus Police at extension 2289 or 760/891-7273.
