ESL classes provide cultural knowledge and language skills to be successful in college and society. Palomar College offers high level ESL classes that can transfer to CSU and UC for general education units. Please contact us for help deciding whether ESL or English classes are the best fit for you!
Recommended Classes Based on Placement
the class will be a 5-unit class.
the class will be a 6-unit class.
ESL 105 counts as elective units towards a degree.
ESL 106 counts as Humanities units towards a degree.
the class will be a 4-unit class.
ESL 110 counts as English Composition towards a degree, like ENG 100.
ESL 110 is an introduction to college-level written English for non-native speakers of English. This course emphasizes critical reading, critical thinking, expository and argumentative writing, and library research techniques. This course includes a close examination of a variety of texts from culturally diverse traditions.
Ultimately, any student wishing to earn an A.A. degree must complete ENG 100 or ESL 110 with a grade of ‘C’ or better.
