The Disability Resource Center (DRC) at Palomar College recognizes disability as an important aspect of diversity and an integral part of the campus community. The DRC is committed to promoting equity and inclusion by supporting qualified students with disabilities in accessing the full college experience. Through assistive technologies, advocacy, and support services, the DRC works collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff to determine reasonable academic accommodations that remove physical and digital barriers, foster the learning environment, and support student success and retention.

Prospective DRC Students
New and prospective students requesting disability-related services are encouraged to plan ahead. Please allow a minimum of two weeks, from the time of application, to schedule your initial welcome appointment with a DRC Counselor. Welcome appointments provide a thorough introduction to DRC services, establish accommodations, and support educational planning. These appointments are approximately one hour in duration, and are available by Zoom or in person.
Steps to Apply for DRC Services
- Apply to Palomar College: Complete the online application, save your Palomar ID number and email address.
- Apply to the DRC: Login using your Palomar student email address and password to complete and sign the DRC application.
- Obtain Verification of Disability: Find documentation from a qualified source (such as a medical provider, clinician, school district, VA). Documentation must include your name, diagnosis, provider credentials, functional limitation (impacts of disability), and relevant dates.
- Send Documentation: Documents should be uploaded with your application, but may also be faxed, emailed, or dropped off at the DRC.
- Documentation Review: A DRC Counselor or the Director will review your documents. You will be contacted within three business days to request any missing information or to schedule your welcome appointment.
