Palomar College is committed to providing employees with reasonable accommodation if they experience restrictions or functional limitations due to disability, so they can safely perform the assigned duties of their position.
This is in compliance with District Policy, Collective Bargaining Agreements, the federal Americans with Disabilities Act, and the California Fair Employment and Housing Act.
Reasonable Accommodation
An accommodation is reasonable if it does not impose an undue hardship on the district. Reasonable accommodations can be any modification or adjustment to a job or the work environment that will enable an employee with a disability to perform essential job functions.
Examples can include but are not limited to: making facilities accessible, adjusting work schedules, the redistribution of non-essential marginal job functions, and/or providing assistive devices/equipment or interpretive services. An employer does not have to provide personal use items needed in accomplishing daily activities both on and off the job (ex: hearing aid, eyeglasses, wheelchair, scooter etc.).
Requesting a Reasonable Accommodation
