Readmission Policy
In the event that a student withdraws from or fails a nursing course, a process has been established to help the student identify problem areas and develop a mutual plan that will enhance the likelihood of success when re-entering the program and/or repeating the course. Students who are eligible may be allowed to repeat one nursing course. The re-entry process is designed to assist a student experiencing academic failure or personal challenges and enhance the opportunity to resolve barriers and challenges to success, as well as to improve academic study, nursing knowledge, technical skills, and clinical ability. Students dismissed from the nursing program due to unprofessional conduct or a violation of safety, legal, or ethical standards, or confidentiality concerns of any type set forth by the Nursing Program may not be eligible for re-entry.
Policy
- Students who are eligible for re-entry are required to submit a Re-entry Application to the Associate Dean of Nursing at least 2 months prior to the start of the semester.
- On the Re-entry Application, the student must list steps that have been completed to modify or resolve the factors that prevented the student from continuing in the Nursing Program.
- The Associate Dean of Nursing/or designee will notify the student of approval for re-entry.
- The student receiving approval will also be required to have a compliant status on all documents in Complio prior to the designated deadline.
- This may require the student to renew their Complio account, repeat drug screens, and background checks.
- Upon readmission, the student must meet with their course instructor(s) within the first week of the course to discuss strategies for success.
Declining Acceptance, Admission of Readmission to the Nursing Program
If a student in the second, third, or fourth semester initially accepts a seat in the program, but does not register, attend class, or withdraws before the semester begins, the student forfeits their seat for that semester. This is considered an attempt, and the student will only be allowed one readmission into the program for any circumstance.
