Understanding Your Promise Status

  • Promise Applicant
    What does this mean?
    An eligible student who has applied to the Palomar Promise program. Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance.
  • Prospective Promise Student
    What does this mean?
    An eligible student who has completed the following:
    • Submitted the Palomar Promise application
    • Completed, submitted and have on record with Palomar College his/her FAFSA or CA Dream Act application
    • Received official notification from the college that his/her Promise status has changed to Prospect
  • Confirmed Promise Student
    What does this mean?
    An eligible student has met all the requirements by the stated deadline and has been officially accepted to participate in Palomar Promise.
    • Submitted the Palomar Promise application
    • Completed, submitted and have on record with Palomar College their official FAFSA or CA Dream Act application
    • Enrolled in a minimum of 12 units by the stated deadline
    • Received official notification from the college that their Promise status has changed from Prospect to Confirmed
  • Application on Hold
    What does this mean?
    Your Promise application is on HOLD pending resolution of eligibility requirements. One or more of these items may be pending:
    • Determination of new first-time college student entering fall 2021. If you are a December 2020 graduate, you may be required to submit proof of graduation.
    • California resident status or from an eligible group (i.e. AB 540 or military dependent). Contact Admissions/Financial Aid Office at 760-744-1150, ext. 2164 for more information on how to resolve your residency requirements.
    • Official FAFSA or Dream Act application. Verify you have completed and submitted your application successfully and listed Palomar College. You may contact the Admissions/ Financial Aid Office at 760-744-1150, ext. 2164 for assistance
  • Not Eligible
    What does this mean?
    Student did not meet one or more of the following Promise eligibility requirements by the stated deadline:
    • First-time college student
    • California Resident or from an eligible exempt group
    • Complete, submit and have an official FAFSA or California Dream Act Application on file with Palomar College
    • Enrolled full-time (a minimum of 12 units) by stated deadline
