General Use Policies and Procedures

The following behaviors and activities are not allowed:

  • Any disruptive behavior which Library staff reasonably determines interferes with the performance of their duties or the intended use of the library by students and others. 
  • Harassment, threats, and/or intimidation, including abusive language, encouraging violence, or other noise or conduct intended to disturb others and reasonably likely to do so.
  • Food or uncovered beverages consumed in areas other than the first floor lobby.
  • Smoking, vaping, or alcohol.
  • Unlawfully possessed weapons of any kind.
  • Theft and damage to property.
  • Soliciting for commercial purposes and panhandling.
  • Unattended children ages 15 and under who are not Palomar College students.
  • Odors or hygiene that constitute a nuisance to other persons.
  • Entering the Library without wearing appropriate clothing, including shoes and shirts.
  • Sleeping or excessive use of personal space that interferes with access to those spaces by others.
  • Leaving personal belongings unattended or placing them in a manner that interferes with safe use of the library.
  • Playing audio equipment so others can hear it; talking or singing loudly inside the library; or making other similar noises disruptive to other library users.
  • Animals other than service animals.
  • Noncompliance with public health orders or measures implemented by the library to ensure compliance with public health orders.
  • Illegal activity as defined by federal, state, and local laws.

All library users must behave in accordance with the Palomar College rules and regulations of student behavior and rules of conduct.

Currently enrolled students, regardless of age, have access to the Palomar College Library and must conform with all these General Use Policies and Procedures.  Minors under the age of 15, who are not currently enrolled Palomar College students, must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
