Palomar College, ESL Department
The ESL Department at Palomar College supports BILPOC (Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and People of Color) students, teachers, and staff.
We stand together with Palomar College’s Call to Action to stop racism and discrimination.
In the ESL Department at Palomar, many of our students, teachers, and staff come from all parts of the world and have had experiences with discrimination based on race, religion, politics, class, gender, sexual-orientation, accent, and/or language.
Together, we want to celebrate diversity and show respect for each other, so that our department is a place where everyone feels welcome, valued, and safe.
We are committed to: using texts, materials, and assignments that value our students’ experiences and cultures making sure our support services, teaching, and department practices are antiracist supporting the success of our BILPOC students.
We are dedicated to fighting racism and injustice in ourselves, our classrooms, our college, our communities, and our world.
