Greetings!

I am thrilled to be a part of the full-time faculty at Palomar College.  My journey to be here includes a variety of teaching and learning experiences.

I began my teaching career as a parent educator and I taught toddlers and their parents in an Early Childhood Family Education program in the Midwest.  Through the years, I’ve taught preschoolers, elementary and secondary education. While in Minnesota, I taught at Minnesota State University in Mankato.  This was my first exposure to teaching at the collegiate level.  When my children and I moved to sunny southern California in 2001, I continued my college and university teaching journey at Southwestern, MiraCosta, Miramar, Cal State San Marcos and Palomar.

I am honored to be an educator, and I love this role.  I also am very fond of learning!  I have degrees in community service, sociology, Family Consumer Science Teaching and Family Consumer Science with emphases in education and marriage and family.  My most recent degree is a PhD in Education with an emphasis in professional studies.  I also recently received a Specialized Certificate in Teaching Online.  Although I have numerous professional degrees, I have learned the most from my children and my students.

When I am not at Palomar College, you are likely to find me running, doing yoga, bicycling, roller-blading, reading, or riding on the motorcycle with my husband.

I look forward to meeting you and to be a part of your journey in this life.

Joyfully, Laurel Anderson, PhD
