Professor Rachael Libolt:

Course Taught: FCS 101-Life Management

Rachael had a long and successful career in the fashion industry following her graduation from California State University at Long Beach with a degree in Textiles and Clothing. She used that industry experience to build her own Wardrobe Consultation and styling business one closet and one client at a time. Subsequently, she was recruited by Saks Fifth Avenue to work as a personal shopper in their exclusive 5th Avenue Club.

When Rachael sent her kids to college, she returned to college and completed her Master’s Degree, in Family and Consumer Science education. She began her teaching career at both Palomar and Mesa Colleges, teaching Fashion and Family and Consumer Science classes.

As an instructor she has received numerous awards and accolades including a CA-AFCS research grant that resulted in a Web page that lists all of the North San Diego County fashion businesses that are resources for fashion program internships. Rachael was also asked to present online teaching workshops for both the San Diego Community College District and the International Textile and Apparel Association. In 2012, she was honored to receive The American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences New Achiever Award.
