At Palomar College, faculty hiring falls under the Senate’s purview of  “Academic and Professional Matters.” Specifically, pursuant to rules adopted by the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges, the Palomar College Governing Board elects to rely primarily on the advice and judgment of Faculty Senate on academic and professional matters. Among these matters are “faculty hiring policy, faculty hiring criteria, and faculty hiring procedures,” specifically noted as number 11 in the “10+1+1.”

On April 25, 2022, the Faculty Senate adopted & on May 3, 2022, the Palomar College Governing Board reviewed the document AP 7120A – Faculty Recruitment & Hiring Procedures, which is the official set of procedures that guide faculty hiring.
