Google Art and Culture Initiative
One of the best places to begin looking for virtual museum tours and looking at art online is by exploring the Google Arts and Culture Initiative. Their mission is to preserve and bring the world’s art and culture online. Google partners with many institutions large and small to make this possible. The site is easy to use and allows you to search by genre, artist, museum, and explore current projects.
George Floyd and Anti Racist Street Art
The George Floyd and Anti Racist Street Art Database is a new project documenting street art with anti racist themes emerging the movement demanding social justice that was part of the aftermath of the murder of George Floyd. The database project began at the college of Arts and Sciences at the University of St. Thomas, Saint Paul, Minnesota.
There is a total of 8 collections to browse and the database is intended for educational and research purposes.

Cancelled: Otis Art Institute visits Palomar
Cancelled: Mark your calendars! On Wednesday March 18th a representative from Otis will be visiting room C-2 from 9:30-11.
They will be talking with students about their programs and will be reviewing student portfolios. This is a great opportunity to get some feedback about your artwork and continuing your studies.
Call for Artists
The Brooks Theater Gallery which is inside of the historic Brooks Theater in downtown Oceanside is seeking artists for a curated exhibit to complement the Sweet Charity production the theater is putting on.
The exhibit will run March 2-March 31. They are looking for looking for Pop Art style in any medium, especially pieces that reference the 1960’s or the show’s characters, setting, or mood. Below is the call for artists and size details
are available to view in the AML and have been emailed to Art Instructors. There is no cost to submit work! The deadline to submit is Feb 28th

YOU ARE INVITED TO SUBMIT YOUR WORK FOR A CURATED ART EXHIBITION AT THE BROOKS THEATER GALLERY, 217 N. COAST HIGHWAY, IN DOWNTOWN OCEANSIDE.
- The exhibition is the visual complement to the Oceanside Theatre Company’s stage production of Sweet Charity.
- Looking for Pop Art style in any medium, especially pieces that reference the 1960’s or the show’s characters, setting, or mood.
- The exhibition runs March 2nd to March 31st, which includes the Oceanside First Friday Art Walk on March 6th and the full 4-week run of the musical.
- To submit, email cnaegele@oceansidetheatre.org and attach images of the pieces you want considered. Online submittal deadline is Friday, February 28th.

SWEET CHARITY is the hilarious musical about Charity Hope Valentine, a hostess in a cheap New York City dancehall in the 1960’s. Ever the optimist, she dreams of one day meeting the true love who will bring her happiness and respectability. Could it be nerdy Oscar?
