Libraries and Learning Resource Centers are exciting places to work because of the rapid changes in technology and the key role that libraries play in their communities.  Library/media technicians are the face and the backbone of the libraries where they work. They are often the first person patrons see when they enter the library or they are the ones behind the scenes keeping systems up to date.

Library workers need special training to organize information and connect patrons with the information they need. The Palomar College LIT program provides training in skills, attitudes, and knowledge leading to a Library Technical Assistant Certificate or AS Degree which can be applied in many occupational areas, including libraries.

Complete the required LIT coursework in any sequence. Classes are offered in Fall, Spring and Summer.

If you receive your Library and Information Technology degree at Palomar, you are automatically eligible to apply for the Library Support Staff Certification (LSSC). The LSSC program is managed by ALA-APA (American Library Association-Allied Professional Association), an ALA affiliated program.
