Join us for Palomar Promise Virtual Welcome Days and get ready to start your college experience this fall! We are excited to invite you to the Palomar community with our virtual Welcome Day events. Welcome Day is a great first step to support your successful transition as a new Promise and Palomar College student. Welcome to Palomar College and the Palomar Promise program!
Palomar Promise Welcome Days, a several-day virtual event which will be held starting August 3 through August 18 via Zoom. We are featuring live webinars covering a range of topics including a collection of pre-recorded videos that you can view anytime!
Why Participate?
• Meet staff, counselors and administrators from across campus to learn about the various resources and support programs available to you as a Palomar College student.
• Palomar Promise students are required to attend Skillshops during their fall and spring semester in order to maintain their Promise eligibility. Participation in 3 LIVE Welcome Day virtual sessions will count towards your required Skillshop for the fall semester. (Note: Additional Skillshops will be offered throughout the fall semester)
• Attending Welcome Days is essential for all new Palomar Promise students to learn how they can thrive at Palomar College during this significant transition.
Registration Details:
• Review the Welcome Day agenda below and find the sessions you plan to attend.
• Click on the “ Register” button below the workshop description.
• Fill out the pre-registration form and submit. Within a couple of minutes, you will receive a confirmation email with the Zoom meeting details and link to join the workshop via Zoom.
• To help you organize your schedule, we encourage you to add all the Zoom events to your calendar as you will need to access these links the day of the event.
• Please note each virtual workshop has its own Zoom URL, and you must register in advance to join.

PALOMAR PROMISE
Palomar Promise Welcome Session
Meet the Promise team as we welcome you to Palomar College as a first year student. Our team will share our vision and the resources and support available through Palomar Promise. In this session, we will discuss what you need to do to maintain your Promise eligibility for Year 1 and Year 2, review requirements, and have a Q/A session at the end of the presentation. We will also provide helpful tips on what to expect during your first week.

Palomar Promise Lunchtime Chat and Q&A
This session is for Promise students who were unable to join the Promise Welcome session on Aug 3. Meet the Promise team as we welcome you to Palomar College as a first year student. Our team will share our vision and the resources and support services available through Palomar Promise. In this session, we will have a Q/A to address topics related to your Promise program requirements for Year 1 and 2, benefits, and services. Students are encouraged to watch the Aug 3rd recording prior to joining this session. The Aug 3rd Welcome session recording will be made available on this website the week of August 9th.

Skillshop (Student Success Workshops)

What are Skillshops?
Skillshops are free workshops offered by various departments on campus. These workshops are designed and presented with the purpose of helping students succeed, whether it be in the classroom, at-home life, or in the real world, and cover a wide range of topics such as academic enhancement, career development, college transfer, and financial aid/planning. With Skillshops, students can get help with everything from receiving hands-on assistance with their financial aid application and improving study habits to managing stress and test anxiety and even career exploration and planning.

Student Emergency Grant / Laptop Assistance
Access to vital resources is critical for our students to remain in school during this unprecedented time related to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. The Palomar College Foundation has mobilized to help through an Emergency Grant Fund Campaign to distribute computers. At this time students must be enrolled in the current semester at Palomar College to be qualified to receive a computer. APPLICATIONS FOR FALL SEMESTER WILL BE ACCEPTED STARTING AUGUST 13. The Foundation office is working hard to review and respond to all requests received. Responses will take between 3-5 business days and will be sent to the email listed on your application.

We are the TRIO Student Support Services Program. We are a federally funded program that is funded by the U.S Department of Education.
