Circulation Policies

Palomar College students do not need a library card to check out materials.  You check out materials with your eServices number. Students from CSU San Marcos or Mira Costa College may also check out materials with a valid student identification from either of these schools. See Library Borrowing Privileges.

Late Policy

The library does not currently assess fines for late return of materials. However, If library books and materials are not returned, a hold will be placed on the student’s account.  This hold blocks class registration as well as the ability to obtain degrees.

Community Borrowers

Circulation Policies

Non-students who are 18 years old or older may register with the Palomar Library as a “Community Borrower”.  A valid government issued photo ID (such as a valid driver’s license, California ID card, Resident Alien card, military ID card or passport) and proof of current mailing address must be presented to borrow materials or use a library computer.

A Community Borrower may borrow circulating books for 3 weeks and circulating media for 1 week. A maximum of 3 items may be checked out at one time. The 3-item limit may be any combination of books and media. Additional items cannot be checked out until items are returned.

Any Community Borrower with a hold on their account due to non-returned items will have their borrowing privileges suspended.

Additional Library Privileges

Before a Community  Borrower is logged onto a computer, they must first confirm their identity by showing a valid government issued photo ID to a Library staff member. Please contact the Library Information Desk for further information at (760) 744-1150 x2614.
