Certificate of Completion, and Graduation Cords & Stoles for Dedicated Service Learning Students.
Students who complete the following requirements for total service hours have the option to apply for the following:
- Service Learning Certificate of Completion – 15 hours of service. Fill out the form here.
- Service Learning Graduation Cord* – 50 hours of service total while a student at Palomar College. Cord cost is $10. Please email servicelearning@palomar.edu if you are interested in a Cord .
- Service Learning Graduation Embroidered Stole* – 100 hours of service total while a student at Palomar College. Stole cost is $15 Please email servicelearning@palomar.edu if you are interested in a Stole.
- Presidential Volunteer Service Award – a National award recognizing students who complete 100 hours or more of community service during a calendar year. The Service Learning Department will provide documentation of Service Learning Hours completed (IF students have turned in their Service Learning paperwork with signed time sheets) that can be used for this award.
Excellence in Service Learning Award
Service Learning Professors and Community Organizations are invited to nominate a student that has shined in his/her Service Learning experience for the Excellence in Service Learning Award. Nominees will be asked to create a poster that advocates for the organization, explains their volunteer role, and the impact their service had on them personally, academically, and what impact they made in the community.
The Service Learning Committee will select the recipients of the annual Excellence in Service Learning Award. Award winners will be honored at the Service Learning Reception in May and will receive a Service Learning Stole and a small scholarship.

Congratulations to the 2018 Excellence in Service Learning Award Winners!
During each semester, Professors and Community Partners are invited to nominate students for the Excellence in Service-Learning Awards. In the Spring, selected students will be awarded the annual Service Learning Scholarship.
Palomar College is proud to have so many excellent service learning students serving our community and representing Palomar College in a positive light.
