OVERVIEW
Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education (C.A.R.E) is a state funded program with the combined efforts of Palomar Community College, the Welfare Department and the Employment Development Department. Its purpose is to provide educational opportunities and job experience for persons currently receiving TANF/CalWORKS (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) who have been denied access to postsecondary education; to provide necessary support for their academic success and retention; to assist them in their pursuit of career and vocational goals; and finally, to assure their removal from welfare roles. C.A.R.E. has been ongoing at Palomar College since 1984.
