Palomar College ArticulationWhat is Articulation? What is Articulation?Articulation is the process of evaluating courses to determine whether coursework completed at one college will meet the requirements for admission, transfer credit, general education, or major preparation at another college. You can use articulation information to select courses and programs of study. You will be assured that you’ve taken the appropriate courses, received the necessary instruction, preparation and credit. Articulation @ PalomarPalomar College has over 400 articulation agreements available on the world wide web in hard copy form. Palomar College maintains articulation agreements with many private colleges and universities and with all California State University and University of California campuses. Articulation agreements are available at various location on campus: Counseling and the Transfer Center, EOP&S, and DRC (Disability Resource Center). Articulation agreements are also available at the Camp Pendleton and Escondido Education Centers. Project AssistProject Assist is a computerized student-transfer information system that may be accessed over the world wide web. Project Assist displays reports of how course credits earned at one California college or university may be applied when transferred to another. Project Assist is the official repository of articulation for California’s colleges and universities and therefore provides the most accurate and up-to-date information available about student transfer in California. California Articulation Number SystemThe California Articulation Number (CAN) is a designation system whereby some classes taught at California colleges and universities may be seen as directly comparable to one another. Palomar College AA DegreeWorksheet (pdf) Supplemental AA Degree Advising Guide [pdf] CSU G.E.Candidates for the Baccalaureate Degree at a California State University must meet the general education requirement of 48 semester units. A student may complete 39 units of this requirement at the lower-division level. The remaining 9 units must be completed at the upper-division level.This pattern of general education, when certified by Palomar college, will meet all lower-division general education requirements at any CSU campus. Worksheet (pdf) AP Exam Course EquivalentAP gives you the chance to try college-level work in high school, and to gain valuable skills and study habits for college. If you get a "qualifying" grade on the AP Exam, Palomar College will give credit or advanced placement for your efforts. The AP exams are administered by the College Board. Advanced Placement Examination Chart (pdf) Multicultural RequirementThe overall goal of the Multicultural Course Requirement is to promote intercultural understanding and communication in local, national, and global contexts. The course should focus on culture and ethnicity, be pluralistic and integrating, emphasize a holistic understanding of cultures and subcultures, and foster cultural awareness, tolerance, and mutual respect among students of diverse backgrounds. Courses from other institutions will be accepted if the course content meets the spirit and criteria of the Palomar College Requirement. The subject areas must include culture and ethnicity. The study of culture/ethnicity must include, but should not focus exclusively on, one of the following American sub-cultures: a) African-Americans; b) Asian-Americans and/or Pacific Islanders; c) Native Americans; d) Latinas/Latinos. The subject areas should also include the issues of gender, socio-economic class, age, sexual orientation, and different abilities.
