The Journalism Department produced its first edition of IMPACT Magazine in Fall 2011. The 60-page, full-color magazine covering Palomar culture was met with great reviews. A print version comes out every Spring and is on stands through the Fall semester. The magazine content is available under the Impact tab on the campus newspaper website.

In 2016, the magazine class was absorbed into the newspaper class allowing students to write for different types of media, from long-form magazine stories to teasers on social media. Students interested in writing or designing for the magazine should contact Professor Erin Hiro at ehiro@palomar.edu.

The students journalists brought back a 1970s era Palomar College Magazine called Focus and made it a Zine, or smaller magazine. It launched in Fall 2025 and can be found under the Focus tab of the campus newspaper website.
