Take These Steps to Become a Palomar College Student
The process is generally the same for all new incoming students and the application is free. There are slightly different procedures for Athletics, Camp Pendleton, Disability Resource Center, Dual Enrollment or Concurrent Enrollment (Under 18), Nursing, Palomar Promise, Police Academy and Veterans.
1: Apply and Activate
Apply online at www.palomar.edu/apply. First, you will create an OpenCCC Account. Second, you will fill out the Palomar application. You will receive your Palomar Student ID number a few days after your application is complete. Activate your Palomar student email in the MyPalomar student portal.

2: Apply for Financial Aid and Scholarships
Complete the FAFSA or the California Dream Act application. Our school code is 001260. Apply for the California College Promise Grant at MyPalomar and submit any required financial aid documents to the Financial Aid Office. Apply for Scholarships at the Financial Aid website, generally in February of each year.

4: Review Your Placement and Develop an Education Plan
English and Math placement are determined using information provided on your application. Review your placement in MyPalomar.

Complete the Education Planning Checklist for New Students. Review the Palomar Pathways Mapper for your major. Schedule an appointment with a counselor to help you select classes.

5: Register and Pay for Classes
Register on your Priority Registration Appointment date (or as soon as possible) to get the best selection of classes. Find your Registration Appointment time in MyPalomar.
