For the Child Development Permit:
CDEV C1000 and CHDV 115 are the core courses
CHDV 106, 182, 184 and 185 count as curriculum courses.
CHDV 180 and CHDV 190 are the school age courses
CHDV 195 provides the 2 units of adult supervision
CHDV 150 and CHDV 155 equal 6 administration units.
CHDV 201/201A provides 3 units of supervised field experience

Previously Offered Certificates and Degrees

Child Development Course Requirements for Certificates and Degrees Prior to Fall 2026

If you started as a Palomar College Child Development student before Fall 2026, you may switch over to our new certificates and degrees, or continue on your academic plan to finish one of our previously offered certificates or degrees. Contact Gina Wilson, Child Development Department chair as a course substitution or waiver may be needed.

New Students must follow our New Certificate and Degree pathways.
