CalWORKs Break Activities

OVERVIEW

Every break in the academic year, Palomar CalWORKs offers break activities so that you can earn Welfare-to-Work participation hours when school is not in session.  The CalWORKs Break Activities are designed to meet the needs of all CalWORKs students. Below are descriptions of Break Activities based on your  Welfare-to-Work case requirements.

Students who need 20 hours per week: Online Book Club

Palomar CalWORKs offers an online book club that can be completed from the convenience of your home via Canvas.

Past books used for the online book clubs have included: The Whole-Brain Child, Year of Yes, Gifts of Imperfections, What if it All Goes Right, and How to Parent from the Inside Out.

Students who need 30-35 hours per week: Online Book Club & Virtual Workshops

In addition to participating in the above described online book club, you will be provided virtual workshops via Zoom.  These workshops are scheduled Monday-Friday (9:00AM-12:00PM).

Past workshops have included: Restorative Yoga for Optimal Wellbeing, Trauma-Informed Self-Care, Plant-Based Meals that your Children will Love, How to Market Yourself in a Difficult Economy, and How to Nail a Job Interview.
