PC 832 Courses

Palomar College Public Safety Programs offers the PC 832 Arrest Course.

The PC 832 Arrest Course meets the minimum training standard for POST Commission Regulation 1005.  This 40-hour course covers thirteen topics that include Laws of Arrest, Search & Seizure, Use of Force, Leadership, Professionalism & Ethics, Criminal Justice System, Criminal Law, Cultural Diversity, Principled Policing, Investigative Report Writing, and Arrest and Control/Defensive Tactics.  Attendance is mandatory for the entire 40 hours of the course.  Failure to attend all hours of training may result in failure of the course.

The Arrest and Control portion of the training requires a student to display proficiency while performing a multitude of arrest and control techniques, which will be tested.  Students must be free from any injuries to attend the course.  In order to receive a Certificate of Completion for the course, a student must successfully pass both the POST-constructed Comprehensive Written Exam and all Arrest and Control Exercise Tests. Should a student fail any test, they will have an opportunity to retest once. Failing the retest constitutes a course failure, and it is required that the entire course be repeated.  Retests for the written exam will be conducted outside of the scheduled course dates and hours.  Refunds are not granted for course failures.   *Course Capacity: 35*

NOTE: Effective 04/01/2024, the CA Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) requires a Medical Clearance to be completed prior to the start of any PC 832 Arrest Course.  This form must be submitted electronically BEFORE the start of the course and the original (printed copy) of the form must be brought to the first day of the course.
