Application Information

Read this important information first…

  • Each applicant is required to submit all application documents to the Palomar College Office of International Education before the application deadline date.
  • All documents must be in English.  If documents are not in English, they must be translated into English by a certified English translator, not by a notary public.
  • Copies of original, official forms are acceptable for application purposes. However, official transcripts are required if you wish to use prior credit earned to satisfy the requirements of your new program.
  • All documents submitted for application purposes become the property of Palomar College and will not be copied or returned.
  • Applications that are missing any documents are considered incomplete and will not be considered for admission without prior approval.
  • Allow 2 weeks for processing after all required documents are received in our office.  Processing time may be extended during peak times.  Our goal is to send your acceptance as soon as possible.
  • Submit all documents to intladm@palomar.edu in PDF format.  This is the preferred method of submission. Make sure all documents are legible.

F-1 Rules

  • Incoming international students must attend full-time. This means that students are required to take and finish at least 12 units each semester. Nine (9) units must be taken in-person. Anything above 9 units may be taken online.
  • Some majors may not have classes offered in-person. There may be times when you have to enroll in a class or classes that are not required for your major in order to keep your F-1 status.

OVERSEAS APPLICANTS
If you are overseas or have bee out of the country for more than 5 months, follow these instructions.

  1. Create a CCC Apply account. Click for Step-by-Step Instructions.
    • Decline ID.me
    • For Social Security Number, select “Check this box if you do not have a Social Security Number” and “I am an international student“.
    • For the Permanent Address, select, “My permanent address is outside the United States” and enter your address in your home country.
    • Email us the CCCID Number and the CONFIRMATION Number after you have submitted the Palomar College application. We will need this information to process your application. 
  2. Fill out the International Student Application and sign and date. Please select a major from Programs Available to International Students
  3. Send a bank statement(s) dated within the last 6 months translated in English. A minimum total of $26,300 or equivalent in USD is required.
    • Forms of funding that are not acceptable are proof of mortgage, stocks, bonds, investments, and retirement accounts.
  4. Fill out the Affidavit of Financial Support. Sign it and have your sponsor sign it if you have one.
  5. Send English proficiency test results. See acceptable tests linked at English Proficiency Requirement.
  6. Send copies of transcripts from all high schools, colleges, and universities attended. Transcripts must be translated in English. 
  7. Send a copy of your passport ID.

Submit all documents to intladm@palomar.edu in PDF format.
Upon acceptance,
we will issue and email the I-20 form to you along with an acceptance letter. You need the I-20 form to make your visa appointment at the nearest U.S. Embassy.

TRANSFER APPLICANTS
If you have an I-20 from another school in the U.S. and want to transfer to Palomar, follow these instructions.

  1. Create a CCC Apply account. Click for Step-by-Step Instructions.
    • Decline ID.me
    • For Social Security Number, select “Check this box if you do not have a Social Security Number” and “I am an international student“.
    • For the Permanent Address, select, “My permanent address is outside the United States” and enter your address in your home country.
    • Email us the CCCID Number and the CONFIRMATION Number after you have submitted the Palomar College application. We will need this information to process your application. 
  2. Fill out the International Student Application and sign and date. Please select a major from Programs Available to International Students

  6. Send a copy of your passport ID.
  7. Send a copy of your current visa.
  8. Send a copy of your I-94. You can send a screenshot of your I-94 from the website.
  9. Send copies of transcripts from all schools in which an I-20 was issued, including English language schools.
  10. Send copies of ALL I-20s ever issued to you.
  11. Fill out the Transfer Eligibility Form and give it to the international student advisor at your current school.

Submit all documents to intladm@palomar.edu in PDF format.
Upon acceptance,
show your international student advisor the acceptance letter so that they can transfer your SEVIS record to Palomar. When we receive your SEVIS record, we will issue and email you the I-20 form from Palomar College.

CHANGE OF STATUS APPLICANTS
If you are in the U.S. with a visa other than F-1 and want to change your visa type to F-1, follow these instructions.

  1. Create a CCC Apply account. Click for Step-by-Step Instructions.
    • Decline ID.me
    • For Social Security Number, select “Check this box if you do not have a Social Security Number” and “I am an international student“.
    • For the Permanent Address, select, “My permanent address is outside the United States” and enter your address in your home country.
