Equity, Education, and Student Success Council

Purpose

The Equity, Education, and Student Success Council guides the College’s policy and planning related to maintaining equity and excellence in all aspects of instructional and student success programs, which fosters a climate of inclusiveness and support. The Council will pay specific attention to ensuring that all students receive the opportunities and support they need to develop a strong foundation for life-long, resilient learning, career success, and global citizenship.

Meeting Days/Times

The Equity, Education, and Student Success Council meets on 1st and 3rd Fridays from 9:00am to 11:00am.

Agenda Requests

To request an item be added to the Equity, Education, and Student Success Council agenda, please use the Agenda Request Form. This new process helps us plan effectively while balancing Council and District priorities. Once your request is submitted, you’ll receive a response confirming the scheduled date, requesting more information, or explaining why the item cannot be agendized.

Please submit your request at least seven (7) days before the desired meeting date. Final documents must be received by the Friday one week prior to the meeting so they can be shared in advance. All submitted materials will be made publicly available.

Council Goals 2024-25

  1. Ensure subcommittees are monitoring implementation of the Student Equity Plan and Guided Pathways Plan.
    • Deliverables: Reports to EESSC; twice per year
  2. Reassess faculty position priority process.
    • Deliverables: New process, presentation to EESSC
  3. Ensure Instructional Program and Review process and forms are reviewed and updated.
    • Deliverables: New forms & process, presentation to EESSC
  4. Explore starting an Honors Program
    • Deliverables: Establish an ad hoc committee, that will complete research, conduct a feasibility study, hold listening sessions and make recommendations to EESSC
  5. Explore feasibility of implementing a College Hour
    • Deliverables: Establish an ad hoc committee that will research college hours at other institutions, hold listening sessions and recommend models for consideration. (Linked to a College Council goal)
  6. Review EESSC Membership and Subcommittees
    • Deliverables: Updated membership and reporting committees’ list. (Linked to College Council goal)
