HyFlex is a new experimental teaching modality that provides additional flexibility for students.
HyFlex is short of Hybrid-Flexible and is defined as courses that meet face-to-face in a classroom but also have a Zoom component for every session. Students can choose each class meeting whether to attend in person or online.
For students: There is an array of HyFlex classes being offered across the campus in multiple subjects. Check the class notes in your latest class schedule to determine which might be offered in the HyFlex format.
For faculty: If you are interested in teaching HyFlex, here are some learning opportunities to support teaching in this unique modality:
- Read the book: Hybrid-Flexible Course Design: Implementing student-directed hybrid classes Brian J. Beatty.
- Take the HyFlex Canvas Course
