Placement

The Assessment-School Relations team is here to assist you whether you are a new student or continuing student. One of the most important steps in the onboarding process is to get an accurate placement so that you enroll in the correct courses that are aligned to your major and education plan.

Initial English and math placement is based on a multiple measures formula from self-reported high school GPA and grades via the online application, in addition to the “Palomar Placement and Pathways Survey” in the Student Center page of MyPalomar.

The Assessment-School Relations Team can also clear courses with English and math prerequisites such as the following:

  • Business 204
  • Economics 101, 102
  • ALL ENGLISH COURSES
  • Engineering 126
  • ALL MATH COURSES
  • Philosophy 200
  • Physics 120, 200,  230
  • Psychology 205
  • Sociology 205
  • Speech 105

Students may submit unofficial high school or college transcripts, AP, SAT or ACT scores to change initial placement or for clearance into any of the courses listed above.

When submitting documentation, please email assessment@palomar.edu and include the following:

  • unofficial transcripts or test scores in a .pdf format
  • full name and Palomar ID number
  • the class you wish to take

We will respond to your email in the order it was received (typically within 24 hours).

Graduating High School Senior Class of 2021 Palomar College and Promise Application Workshop

The Assessment-School Relations team is currently conducting our annual Graduating Senior and Promise Program application workshops for the 2021-2022 academic school year.
