How are course recommendations determined?
Recommendations for placement are offered with your success as the ultimate and first most goal. You may be directed to lower level courses if it is determined that you are highly unlikely to succeed in transfer-level English (English 100).
Eligibility
Eligibility for English courses is determined through Multiple Measures in the English Placement Process. Completion of ENG 100 or ENG 49 + ENG 100 with a C or better is required for an AA or AS Degree.
Transferable to UC & CSU
- English 100, 202, and 203
- Students taking English 49 must enroll in the concurrent section of English 100 (Note: English 49 will not transfer, English 100 will transfer)
Class Recommendation Based on Placement
Register for any 4-unit college-level (transferable) English 100 course in College Composition. In order to extract the most learning out of this experience, it is recommended that you be prepared to work hard and fully engage in your learning.
Register for our 6-unit course combination of English 49 (2 units) and English 100 (4 units). These courses linked together offer extra preparation needed for you to strengthen your skills and prepare you to succeed in transfer-level English. Passing this course will satisfy the English 100 requirement.
You are ready to take on Advanced Composition and Critical Thinking and you are most likely planning to transfer. Check with your target university for guidance to ensure all the required courses are completed before you apply to transfer.
