Your student’s high school course is equivalent to a college course through an articulation with Palomar College. However, credits are not automatically granted. As a parent/guardian, you can support your student by guiding them through the application process to earn college credit. This is an OPT-IN program to receive early college credit.
** Please note that creating an OpenCCC account and applying to Palomar College will require your student to provide personal information, including a non-school email address, physical address, date of birth, and Social Security Number (if they possess one). Students without a Social Security Number are still eligible to apply. **
A brief overview that eligible students must:
- Complete an application to Palomar College
- Enroll in course through CATEMA
- Pass both semesters of their high school course with a B or higher
- Pass their Final Exam/Project with a B or higher
- The Final Exam/Project grade is the one that is posted on the official transcript
- The college transcripts will display the final exam grade with a notation indicating Credit by Exam.
- Students that receive a C or lower will not have anything posted on their Palomar transcript
Please refer to the ACE Student Information page for more detailed steps.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the CTE Articulation/Credit by Exam program. Please note that due to FERPA regulations, we cannot share confidential academic information about your student unless they are present on the call with you.
