There will be four tests: 50 multiple-choice and true/false questions, plus an essay question also with 50 points.

There are two writing assignments: one is a very short paper based on a video on railroads just before and during the Civil War. The assignment is worth 25 points. The other paper is a short paper, answering six questions based on the book Apostles of Disunion. This assignment is worth 100 points.
