Welcome to the DRC

The Disability Resource Center (DRC) at Palomar College recognizes disability as an important aspect of diversity and an integral part of the campus community. The DRC is committed to promoting equity and inclusion by supporting qualified students with disabilities in accessing the full college experience. Through specialized instruction, adaptive technology, advocacy, and support services, the DRC works collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff to create reasonable accommodations that remove environmental barriers, foster inclusive learning environments, and support student success and retention.

Are you a new or prospective student?

New and prospective students requesting disability-related services are encouraged to plan ahead. Please allow a minimum of two weeks to schedule your initial welcome appointment with a DRC counselor.
Welcome appointments are offered in two parts to provide a thorough introduction to DRC services, establish accommodations, and support educational planning.

  • Part One (45–60 minutes): Available by phone, Zoom, or in person (subject to availability). This appointment focuses on orienting students to DRC services and establishing approved accommodations, such as extended testing time or note-taking services. Part One must be completed before any accommodations can be authorized.
  • Part Two (30 minutes): Also available by phone, Zoom, or in person (subject to availability). This session continues the intake process and may include one to two semesters of educational planning.

Both appointments work together to ensure students receive comprehensive support while attending Palomar College.
