Do you have a passion for Interior Design?
The Palomar College Interior Design Program helps transform your passion into a career. Our Interior Design program is affiliated with the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA). We were ranked the #4 Best Interior Design Program in California from 2021 through 2024 by Best Value Schools.
With two programs of study — Associate of Science Degree or Certificate of Achievement — you will learn:
- The foundational principles and elements of design
- Business applications such as contracts, legal, and ethical issues for designers
- Residential and commercial design processes
- Drawing techniques such as hand drafting, perspective drawing, quick sketching, and illustration methods
- Industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Revit, 2020, SketchUp, and Photoshop
Students develop skills that prepare them for roles such as:
- Interior design assistant or junior interior designer
- Residential or commercial design support roles
- Kitchen and bath design roles
- Showroom, materials, or product specification support roles
Students may also continue their education through transfer to four-year programs or through continued study in related fields such as building performance, sustainable design, and environmental design like what is offered through the BPED program now available at Palomar College.
