Welcome home to Palomar College Rising Scholars! Palomar College Rising Scholars comprise a thriving community of formerly incarcerated people dedicated to personal and professional success. The program is also a proud member of the Rising Scholars Network that supports currently and formerly incarcerated individuals across the state.

The program encompasses two components: classes that take place at the Vista Detention Facility and an on-campus program. At the Vista Detention Facility, Palomar professors teach credit courses to currently incarcerated students. On campus, formerly incarcerated students can join the program anytime and become part of a thriving community of people liberating themselves through education. The program has a dedicated space on the Palomar College San Marcos campus where students can get a snack and take a breather between classes, peer mentor support, meet with staff, use computers for schoolwork, and more.
