Board Resignations

At its August 18, 2022, Board meeting it was MSC to regretfully accept the resignations of Co-Presidents June Rady and Bob Larson.  In summary, June will be more actively involved on a regional/state level to advocate for Social Security and improved/protected Medicare health benefits as well as in the upcoming November 8 midterm elections.   Bob resigned because of health issues and wishes to devote the time necessary for he and his wife, Ruth, to take care of one another without external responsibilities, stresses, and distractions.

The Board members value the input that both Bob and June demonstrated with their many years of experience on the PACRA Board and the wisdom with which they lead.  Although we will miss them on the Board, we know as PACRA members, they will gladly guide us along when we need it!!  Bob will continue as website manager—which the Board GREATLY appreciates! The Board also accepted the requests of members Judy Cater and Jim Cooper to become active participants on the PACRA Board—we will look forward to working with new ideas and perspectives from them.

Secretary, PACRA

Below are the resignation letters submitted to the PACRA Board by June Rady and Bob Larson

June Rady

TO: Members, Board of Directors
Palomar College Retirees’ Association (PACRA)
FROM: June Rady
SUBJECT: Letter of Resignation from PACRA Board of Directors

Regretfully, I am writing to let you now that I am resigning from the PACRA Board of Directors, effective immediately.  I joined PACRA as a member in the mid-1990’s and became an official member of the Board of Directors in 2005.  My decision to leave the Board is obviously an emotional one and I have given it a great deal of thought and consideration before coming to this conclusion.  First and foremost, please accept my deepest gratitude for all you’ve done to make PACRA a successful and a viable voice for our retirees.  My gratitude is also extended to the many colleagues that I’ve had the honor and pleasure of working with on behalf of PACRA over these many years.

My decision to leave is based on my growing responsibilities as liaison to the City of Escondido in my capacity as President of the Board of Directors of the Escondido History Center.  In addition, I have been feeling a growing need to become more active on a regional and state-wide level in helping to address the scrutiny and many serious challenges our Social Security system and Medicare health benefits plan will be facing as the official federal/state mid-term election season officially gets underway.  The Retired Public Employees Association of California has, for several years, been seeking my involvement and I plan to explore this opportunity.  I cannot stress enough the importance of voting on November 8, 2022.

I have complete confidence in the leadership of Dr. Star Rivera-Lacey, Superintendent/President.  Dr. Rivera-Lacey completely understands and supports the importance of maintaining and protecting our retiree health benefits.  We retirees are in very good, competent hands.

I wish each of you continued success as you continue to carry out the mission of PACRA.

June Rady, Co-President
Palomar College Retirees’ Association

Bob Larson

To: Members, Board of Directors
Palomar College Retirees’ Association (PACRA)
FROM: Bob Larson, Co_President
SUBJECT: Letter of Resignation from the PACRA Board of Directors

This I to inform you and the PACRA Board that I am resigning from the Board, effective immediately.  This decision has been made after considerable thought and with much regret.  But deteriorating health conditions in both me and my wife have made us conclude that it is time for us to devote the time necessary to take care of one another without external responsibilities, stresses ad distractions.  I am truly sorry that I will not be serving the remaining year as co-president, but I believe I am making the right decision to leave the Board at this time.

I wish to express my deep appreciation for the kindness and support I have received from the many PACRA Boards over the years of my Board membership.  PACRA has occupied a prominent role in my retirement activities for a long time and I will miss seeing and working with my PACRA friends.  I am confident the Board will continue to successfully provide leadership to the PACRA membership and pursue the PACRA mission while maintaining positive and constructive relationships with college personnel

Bob Larson

P.S.  Unless the Board wishes to make other arrangements, I would like to continue the work on the PACRA website, as a small contribution.  It is relaxing and a non-stressful activity that I enjoy and can be done at home
