The Long Game: Vision and Persistence from the Deaflympics to Hollywood

Presenter: Professor Joshua Gray
Description: From the high-stakes basketball courts of the US Deaflympics to the sets of Hollywood, Professor Joshua Gray has spent a career making the invisible visible. While his historic “firsts” as an international-born Asian Deaf leader have broken records and glass ceilings, the true story lives in the “unseen work.” This session pulls back the curtain on the “long game” of advocacy. It moves beyond the highlight reels to explore the raw reality of cultural navigation: the moments of isolation, the strategic negotiations, and the stamina required to stay at the table when the doors are closed. Join us for an exploration of courage and resilience—not as a loud declaration, but as a steady, visual commitment to building pathways where none existed before.
Date: Tuesday, April 28, 2026
Time: 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM
Location: Palomar College, San Marcos Campus, LRC-116
