Local Support & Community Resources

  • San Diego Queer APIMEDA Coalition (@qapimeda on Instagram)
    o Supported by the San Diego Pride organization, the SD Queer APIMEDA
    Coalition creates a safe and welcoming space designed to foster meaningful
    discussions about the intersection of individuals who identify as Desi,
    Middle-Eastern, Pacific Islander, Asian, and LGBTQIA+.

Global Support & Community Resources

  • National Queer Asian Pacific Islander Alliance (NQAPIA)
    • The National Queer Asian Pacific Islander Alliance (NQAPIA) empowers
      LGBTQ+ Asians and Pacific Islanders and all communities we call home
      through movement capacity building, policy advocacy, and representation.
      Founded in 2005, NQAPIA builds the capacity of local, grassroots, and
      affinity-based LGBTQ+ AANHPI groups; advances an intersectional justice
      and equity agenda for all the communities we call home; supports
      intergenerational family (re)building and engagement; and ensures LGBTQ+
      AANHPI representation everywhere, especially in research and resource
      development.

  • PFLAG – Asian American, Native Hawaiian, & Pacific Islander Community – Virtual
    Meetings
    • These virtual meetings are open to parents, family members, and members
      of the LGBTQ+ community who are AANHPI. Each meeting is led by members
      of the AANHPI community who will guide you in receiving support, giving
      support, and finding resources to help you, your family, and your community.
      The PFLAG Connects: Asian American, Native Hawaiian, & Pacific Islander
      Community meets on the last Tuesday of the month at 6pm PT / 9pm ET
  • Desi Rainbow Parents & Allies
    • Desi Rainbow Parents & Allies was conceived in 2017 for South Asian
      families and friends of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and
      questioning individuals to learn about LGBTQIA+ issues, find community
      with one another and learn how to better support their loved ones. We serve
      Desi individuals and families who trace their origins to South Asia, including
      India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, and the Maldives.
      Our mission is to foster understanding and acceptance among families, with
      the goal of affirming and celebrating our LGBTQIA+ loved ones.
