As a paramedic provide advance life support medical services in the medical direction of San Diego’s City’s medical director. Care includes pre-hospital trauma life support, advanced /basic cardiac life support, pediatric advanced life support, medical assessment with appropriate transport to a receiving hospital for various medical emergencies. Educational requirements include San Diego and National registry which require completion and certification in Advanced Cardiac Life support, Basic Life Support (CPR) and an accredited paramedic program. Schooling is approximately one year and rigorous on any scholastic level. Daily duties as a paramedic include, vehicle/equipment inspection, which includes basic knowledge all the technical/mechanical specifications of equipment and knowledge to able to trouble shoot or repair equipment. Navigational skills are also required, using GPS and printed maps to be able to navigate through the city of San Diego. Communication skills are highly coveted, public speaking and radio communications are used every day.
Firefighter — Rainbow Volunteer Fire Department After completion of 13 week orientation academy, provided fire prevention, medical and suppression services in a rural community housing approximately 1200 residents. Duties include, vehicle/equipment and repair, Medical response and equipment familiarization, I bloc education, interoperability with surrounding department, rescue operations, and continuing education for personal advancement. Also served the department as a driver operator and servers on the emergency medical equipment education and equipment committee.
