Student Success Workshops
Math anxiety is a feeling of tension, fear, or apprehension that individuals experience when faced with mathematical tasks or situations. It can manifest in various ways, including physical symptoms like sweating or a racing heart, as well as cognitive effects like negative thoughts about one’s abilities in math. In this workshop, students will learn of the key aspects of math anxiety such as negative emotions, avoidance behavior, impact on performance, stereotypes, and physical symptoms. Addressing math anxiety often involves building a positive mindset toward math, using effective study strategies, and seeking support from teachers or peers. Overcoming math anxiety can lead to improved confidence and performance in mathematical areas.
