Clery Training (aka Campus Security Authority Training) — Updated Schedule (10/25/16)

It is that time of year again for the Campus Security Authority Training. This training is required annually for the following CSA employees:

  • An employee working with the campus police department
  • An employee working in the Office of Student Affairs
  • A director of athletics, a team coach or a faculty advisor to a student group.
  • Any person who has the authority and the duty to take action or respond to particular issues on behalf of the institution. (directors, chairs, deans, etc.)
  • Someone who has significant responsibility for student and campus activities
    • including faculty and/or staff involved with field trips (required for those involved with overnight field trips).

Exemptions to being a CSA:

  • Behavioral and Pastoral Counselors
  • Vendors such as Aramark and Efollett
  • Clerical staff who have no contact with students.
  • Instructors who have no contact with students outside of the classroom or office hours.

Great CA ShakeOut Drill (October 20)

The Great California ShakeOut Drill Scheduled for October 20

The Great California ShakeOut drill at Palomar College will happen on Thursday, October 20 at 10:20 a.m.

Students, faculty and staff in the San Marcos campus and Escondido Center will hear a 60-second message broadcast through the Palomar College Emergency Notification System to “drop, cover, and hold on.”

Environmental Health and Safety is coordinating the drill and urges everyone to learn the best practices for safety during an earthquake.

Behavioral Intervention Team Training for Faculty & Staff: October 18-21

Free Behavioral Intervention Team training will be provided on campus next week to Palomar College faculty and staff by the National Behavioral Intervention Team Association (NaBITA), an organization for the support and professional development of behavioral intervention team members.
