GEAR UP is excited to be at Local Escondido High Schools to offer our college readiness and outreach services to the Class of 2017 and 2018. We help students get into college by providing:
- Academic Support Services: These include our very successful in-class and after school tutoring program, which provides homework help and cultivates study skills among our students.
- Promoting and cultivating a college-going culture: Year-round field trips to college and universities as well as college fairs, career fairs, and leadership conferences.
- Student and parent workshops: These include workshops on A-G requirements, financial aid information, and standardized testing.
GEAR UP works extensively with parents and families to support students. We also work in conjunction with school teachers and staff to strengthen our academic support services. These include:
After School Tutoring – Teacher Incentive Program
Our program works closely with your student’s teachers to provide extra credit/HW makeup opportunities for students that attend after school tutoring.
9th Grade Action Plan Program
We work in partnership with school administrators to identify struggling freshmen and connect them with the resources they need to succeed, including drawing an action plan between the student, parent/guardian, and GEAR UP staff.
