Meet the Artist Steven Gray has been described by one reviewer as "knowing how to coax the most varied sounds out of the instrument, making everything look easy and sound smooth." His performances, as pianist, organist, or harpsichordist, have been hailed by audiences from California to Europe. Whether as a soloist or ensemble partner, Dr. Gray's ability to mold the instrument to the needs of the music at hand keeps him in constant demand. His unique programs include a broad range of music from Bach and Couperin to Copland and Brubeck. His master classes and lectures also have been highly praised. He is currently a member of the music faculty of Palomar College and is Director of Music/Organist at Clairemont Lutheran Church. He also has served on the faculties of the University of Southern California and Santa Clara University. Steven Gray was awarded the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Stanford University. He also holds degrees from the University of California at Santa Barbara and the University of Colorado at Boulder. On Sunday, April 25 at 7:00 p.m., Dr. Gray will perform the inaugural recital of the new pipe organ at Clairemont Lutheran Church 4271 Clairemont Mesa Blvd., San Diego. This 40-rank, three-manual organ, involving an investment of more than half a million dollars, is the first installation of a new pipe organ in San Diego County in nearly 20 years.
