Palomar Promise Progress Petition

Palomar Promise students who have been disqualified for Promise Year 2  (Academic Year 2024-2025) due to not meeting one or more of the following requirements have been notified via their Palomar student email.

To be eligible for Palomar Promise Year 2, students must meet the following eligibility requirements:
  • Successfully complete a minimum of 24 units (or units approved by Disability Resource Center)  by the end of your Spring 2024 semester with a grade of “A” through “D” or “P”
  • Earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
  • Complete, submit and have on record with Palomar College an official 2024-2025 FAFSA or California Dream Act application
  • Enroll full-time (12 or more units, or units approved by DRC) for Fall 2024
  • Be a California resident or from an eligible exempt group (i.e. AB540, military dependent)

If you have been disqualified from receiving Promise funding for Year 2 (2024-2025), and have an extenuating circumstance, you may file a Promise Progress petition.  Online Petitions along with supporting documentation must be submitted by Friday, August 9, 2024.  Please allow at least 14 business days from the date of submission for processing.

Students will be notified via their Palomar student email if the petition is approved or denied.  If your petition is approved, you may be required to participate in academic intervention activities to regain good standing (i.e. attend tutoring, meet with a counselor).

Who is eligible to petition?
  • In order to be eligible to submit a Promise Progress petition, you must have been a confirmed Palomar Promise Year 1 student in Spring 2024, and have an extenuating circumstance that prevented you from meeting the Palomar Promise requirements (i.e. severe illness or injury, death of immediate family member or unforeseen extenuating circumstance).

In order for your petition to be considered, you must meet the following requirements below at the time of submission. Failure to complete these items prior to submitting your Progress petition will result in your petition being denied.

  • Enroll full-time (a minimum of 12 units, or units approved by DRC) for Fall 2024. Waitlisted classes do not count.
  • Complete, submit and have on record a 2024/25 FAFSA or California Dream Act Application

The deadline to submit the Palomar Promise Progress petition has passed.
