First Generation College Celebration

Throughout the month of November, Palomar College celebrates National First-Generation College Day.

Join us in celebrating the remarkable achievements of our First-Generation students at Palomar College! At Palomar College, we take immense pride in our resilient First-Generation students who have broken barriers to pave their way to higher education. Their determination and perseverance have set an inspiring example for all.
In honor of this momentous celebration, we are thrilled to announce our series of Career Readiness Workshops. This experience is designed to help our First-Generation students set the stage for a bright and successful future. These career readiness workshops will equip our First-Gen students with the essential skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to thrive in the professional world.

Why Celebrate?

November 8th is recognized as the date for the annual National First-Generation College Celebration to honor the anniversary of the signing of the Higher Education Act of 1965. Additional information about why November 8th was selected is available at Why Celebrate on November 8.

What is a First-Generation College Student?

First-generation college students are the first to attend, or graduate from, college in their immediate families. Specifically, if your parents or guardians did not attend, or graduate from college, then you are a first-gen student. One in five students at Saddleback is a first-generation college student.
