The Palomar Black Student Success Program offers essential support to promote the academic and cultural growth of Black students. It provides mentorship, advocacy, and a strong sense of community to help students succeed both academically and personally. The Umoja Community is a key part of this initiative, designed to enhance the educational and cultural experiences of African American and other students. Through a holistic approach, Umoja encourages academic excellence and fosters a sense of belonging. The Umoja Learning Community includes linked courses like ENGL C1000E: English Composition and COUN 110: College Success, with additional opportunities such as statewide conferences, college tours (including an HBCU tour), dedicated counseling, and priority registration. This fall, the new Umoja Village space will open, providing a dedicated hub for connection and support. Umoja is open to any student seeking a community-focused, culturally enriching experience.
