MIL Program Credit for Prior Learning Eligibility

Active duty Marines who have completed Sergeants School or a more advanced USMC PME may also enroll into the Military Leadership Program through our Credit for Prior Learning process. This eligibility criteria is listed below, and was developed by our Military Leadership Council which consists of active-duty Marines and Military curriculum experts.

Eligibility Criteria

Option #1
  • Sergeants School – Resident or Seminar Program: July 2013 – present
    (Certificate or ACE ID: MC-2204-0103 or MarineNet Transcript code EPME5500AZ accepted for verification)
    OR
  • Career School Resident or Seminar Program: June 2018 – present
    (Certificate or ACE ID or MarineNet Transcript accepted for verification)
    OR
  • Advanced School – Resident or Seminar Program: June 2021 – present
    (Certificate or ACE ID or MarineNet Transcript accepted for verification)
    OR
  • SNCO Leadership School – Resident or Seminar Program: 2025 – present
    (Certificate or ACE ID or MarineNet Transcript accepted for verification)
    OR
  • Warrant Officer Basic Course (WOBC)
    (Certificate or ACE ID accepted for verification)
    OR
  • First Sergeants Course, SEPME, E8 Seminar or Cornerstone Completion
    (Certificate accepted for verification)
Option #2
  • MCU/CDET/SNCO Academy Director, Instructor/Faculty Advisor, or Curriculum Developer at MCU/SNCO Academy since 2013.
Option #3

If a student does not meet requirements #1 or #2, and they are SSgt or above, they may complete the Checklist Criterion detailed below and submit for review.

1- Unofficial Joint Service Transcript (JST) (0-30 point)

2- Reflection Essay- Complete an essay in response to the four prompts below. All four must be addressed in this essay. This will be evaluated and scored by our MIL Council Faculty (0-70 points).

MIL 100 

In a minimum of 250 words, identify how effective written and oral communication affects culture within the Marine Corps and detail how each can impact military operations in conjunction with foreign populations.  Use specific examples from your experience as a leader of Marines.

MIL 101

In a minimum of 250 words, consider the tenets of Marine Corps Doctrinal Publication 1 “Warfighting” and explain why comprehension of this publication is essential to all Marines and provide specific examples of how you have applied it in your experience as a leader of Marines.

MIL 102 

In a minimum of 250 words, describe how you engage in “Sustaining the Transformation” and detail  what customs, traditions, orders, directives, and programs within the Marine Corps assist you in leading your Marines.

MIL 103 

In a minimum of 250 words, explain how you utilize concepts illustrated within MCWP 6-11 “Leading Marines” to develop your Marines both personally and professionally.  Provide details and specific examples of how you implement these fundamentals in your leadership.

Please note: If you are attending PME at Camp Pendleton or 29 Palms, enrollment into the program will be offered during a Registration Brief during the first few weeks of your PME session. If you wish to enroll in the program AFTER PME is completed, contact us at milprogram@palomar.edu to get started.
