2024-2025 Employee of the Year

Employee of the Year Nominations

Palomar College has many outstanding employees who deserve recognition for their dedication and support of the college. This nomination is focusing on our outstanding permanent employees in the Classified Unit, Confidential and Supervisory Team (CAST), and the Administrative Association. One (1) employee of the year will be selected from each of the three classification groups.

Guidelines

  • Nominations may be submitted by any Palomar College employee.
  • Employee of the Year recipients within the past three (3) years are not eligible for the award, but can be recognized as a nominee. Review the list of Previous Employee of the Year Recipients for more information.
  • Probationary employees are ineligible for the award.  Review the list of permanent employees for more information.
  • Each nomination form is specific to the nominee’s classification group.  Please make sure you are using the correct form.  Review the employee group list for more information.
  • Nominate one person per nomination form. To nominate more than one employee, please use a separate form for each nominee.

Employee of the Year Award Recipients will receive:

  • $1,000.00 award
  • Recognition Plaque
  • Parking spot of their choice

How Awardees will be Selected and Notified

The Employee of the Year Taskforce will review all nominations and select one (1) Employee of the Year from each classification group. All nominees will be recognized during the Employee Recognition Celebration in May.  Nominees will be notified by email and encouraged to attend the event. Nominees will have the opportunity to submit a photo to be included in the event slideshow. The winners will be announced during the event.

Award Criteria

Each nominee will be rated on specific criteria based on their employee group.  For more information, review the list of permanent employees and their employee group.

Classified Staff Nomination Criteria
  1. The nominee delivers outstanding service and takes initiative in leading projects and solving challenges to enhance the student experience, and/or supports the Mission of the College.
  2. The nominee has a strong work ethic and continually demonstrates positive teamwork and collegiality. They welcome and value diverse opinions in discussions, sustaining a positive work environment – infused with diversity, equity, inclusivity, accessibility, and antiracism.
  3. The nominee demonstrates excellence by contributing to the advancement in operations and the effectiveness of Palomar for its students, employees, and its surrounding communities.
  4. A statement addressing how the nominee is a true Palomar Comet.

CAST Staff Nomination Criteria
  1. The nominee exhibits leadership and vision that positively affects students, enhances the student experience, and/or supports the Mission of the College.
  2. The Nominee promotes a sense of community. Welcomes and values diverse opinions in discussions, sustaining a positive work environment – infused with diversity, equity, inclusivity, accessibility, and antiracism.
  3. The nominee motivates others with positive feedback and recognition, takes the time to listen, and makes themselves available to others.
  4. The nominee demonstrates extraordinary leadership resulting in the accomplishment of significant goals or objectives that serve the good of the College.
  5. A statement addressing how the nominee is a true Palomar Comet.

AA Staff Nomination Criteria
  1. The nominee exhibits leadership and vision that positively affects students, enhances the student experience, and/or supports the Mission of the College.
  2. The Nominee promotes a sense of community. Welcomes and values diverse opinions in discussions, sustaining a positive work environment – infused with diversity, equity, inclusivity, accessibility, and antiracism.
  3. The nominee manages and guides with competence and honesty – effectively listens, questions, facilitates, and maintains accountability.
  4. Through active engagement and teamwork, the nominee is widely recognized as a leader and significant contributor to the betterment of Palomar College and its culture.
  5. A statement addressing how the nominee is a true Palomar Comet.
