The Theatre opened in Fall of 1979 as the Educational Theatre for Palomar College campus. In the early 1990’s the College renamed this building “The Howard Brubeck Theatre”, after Howard Brubeck, the Dean of the Music department during the buildings early conceptions. July of 2011 construction on the Performing Arts Complex started and in 2013 the newly renovated Howard Brubeck Theatre was opened as part of the new Performing Arts Complex. The renovated to this building included a larger lobby area, improved seating and an acoustically sound auditorium of 260 seat.
