Overview:
Palomar College partnered with Civilian Agency to shift and streamline the information architecture and content of Palomar.edu to a student-first attitude. Funded by the CCC Regional Consortium, this project promises value to the college through the following intended outcomes: student experience data collection/gap study; set of core messaging priorities (CMP); identification of the top 100 pages for CMPs; recommended sitemap of the top 500 pages; recommended page candidates for migration to a faculty/staff intranet; recommended wireframes for student-centric information delivery; suggestions to enhance the alignment of CMPs on the homepage.
Note: this project will address web architecture leading up to but exclusive of MyPalomar (eServices) and PeopleSoft. Additional deliverables as well as other details are listed in Civilian Agency’s full scope of work, included separately.

Rollout and Timeline
In order to capture the best levels of stakeholder and campus representation, it is recommended that Civilian’s engagement begin no earlier than September 2019. Civilian has proposed a 6-month timeframe, with Palomar staff executing any approved changes after completion of Civilian’s piece.
Prelaunch Sessions and Socialization
So as not to lose momentum, a preparation of Palomar’s web content managers (mostly 12-month staff) could happen July – September 2019. With the goal being to perform an internal content clean-up, web maintainers (ADAs and key site admins) would be mobilized via written requirement from the VPI and VPSS to division staff and from Deans to their departments. ATRC staff would support with how-to training workshops (LRC-208) and regular check-ins.
In addition, the Web Team would socialize the project to the following groups during open timeframes: councils and committees as appropriate; Chairs and Directors; SSEC Summer Session; SPC; IPC; Faculty Senate; Fall Plenary.
Student Services will explore the availability of funds for a pre-term socialization workshop with stakeholders (faculty would need off-contract compensation.)
Post-Project Execution
Civilian will deliver its findings and data to Palomar’s web team. These pieces will serve to inform the Students-First Web ReDesign, which will be undertaken by the Palomar College Web Advisory Group.
