Join us to watch and discuss a documentary film, Chinatown Rising. Director Josh Chuck edited and compiled a large number of film footage taken by his father during the mid-1960s social movements in San Francisco’s Chinatown. Chuck captured a divided community’s struggles for self-determination and unity. The end result was a documentary film about the Asian American Movement from the perspective of the young residents on the front lines of their historic neighborhood in transition. The film engages the campus community on discussion topics around Asian American activism, immigration, civil rights, education, coalition building, affordable housing, and documentary filmmaking. Sign-up for the online event: Chinatown Rising Registration Form.
